Pop Bottles, Not Allergies!
Spring has sprung—and so have our taste buds! These six staff-picked wines are blooming with flavor, perfect for picnics, porch hangs, and those first al fresco evenings. From floral whites to bright chillable reds, they’re just what you need to wine down this season.
Don’t be misled by the cycling term—this Chasse Patate isn’t stuck off the back. It’s a spirited, Rhône-inspired field blend that punches well above its weight, with wild energy and serious charm.
On the nose, it opens with bright red berries, dried herbs, and a hint of forest floor. The palate is light to medium-bodied, with crunchy acidity, fine tannins, and just enough earth and spice to keep things interesting. Unfined, unfiltered, and naturally fermented, it’s a snapshot of thoughtful California winemaking with a nod to the Old World.
Versatile and food-friendly, it shines alongside herb-roasted chicken, grilled lamb chops, or a simple lentil salad with goat cheese. Or just pour a glass and let it ride solo—this is a wine that doesn't need a crowd to make an impression.
Elusive, intriguing, and just a bit rebellious—The Pearl Thief isn’t your typical organic medium-bodied white blend. Made from a mix of 50% Sauvignon Blanc and 50% Semillon from the Renaissance Vineyard in Yuba County, this wine channels Rhône inspiration with a California twist.
It opens with aromas of chamomile, bruised pear, and lemon curd, layered over a textured palate that hints at beeswax, orchard fruit, and a mineral snap on the finish. There’s a light oxidative note that adds depth without dulling its natural vibrancy. As always with Frenchtown, it’s unfined, unfiltered, and spontaneously fermented—nothing added, nothing taken away.
For food, think richness with freshness: buttery scallops, roast chicken with tarragon, soft-rind cheeses, or even spring vegetables in a lemon cream sauce. It’s cerebral enough for wine geeks, but chill enough to just enjoy.
Meet your new spring fling: Juicy Fruit. This chillable red is a flirtation between 67% Montepulciano and 33% Malvasia Bianca—one carbonic-macerated and the other skin-fermented for that extra burst of juicy, aromatic goodness. Malvasia Bianca stole the show in Wonderwerk's 2022 vintage, bringing all the light bodied refreshing flavors of cherry and raspberry didn’t know you needed this season, with just a smidge of citrus zest for that clean crisp finish. Light, playful, and perfect for those sunny days when you want to sip something that feels like a party in a glass. Juicy Fruit is a collaboration between Wonderwerk and Andre Power, the globe-trotting DJ, co-founder of Soulection, and founder of LINK UP WORLDWIDE.
It’s made for al fresco dining: think grilled veggie skewers, spicy charcuterie, or a fresh spring salad with citrus dressing. Or, just crack it open on a warm afternoon and let it do the heavy lifting while you kick back and relax.
This Chasselas is like the cool, understated cousin of Sauvignon Blanc, bringing all the freshness and none of the fuss. With its crisp minerality, delicate floral notes, and just a hint of stone fruit, it’s the kind of wine that makes us feel like we’re lounging by the Loire, soaking in the sunshine (even if we’re just sitting in the backyard). We’re not saying this is the wine of the season, but... it’s definitely our staff pick. Light, bright, and oh-so-refreshing, with relatively low ABV at 10.5%, it’s the perfect sip for warm afternoons and spontaneous spring celebrations.
It’s a natural with goat cheese, fresh oysters, or a light spring salad. Or, simply pour it and let the spring vibes take care of the rest.
Our spring fling? It’s 100% Pinot Noir from Alsace, and we’re not keeping it a secret. Domaine Bechtold delivers a light, lifted take on this classic grape. Expect bright red berries, a whisper of spice, and just enough earth to keep things grounded from this biodynamic chillable red, with a lasting savory finish. It’s got that irresistible combo of elegance and approachability that made it an easy staff favorite. Chill it down just a touch and you’ve got yourself the ultimate spring red: fresh, flirtatious, and dangerously drinkable.
Think picnic fare—herbed roast chicken, mushroom pâté, or a lentil and beet salad. Basically, anything you’d enjoy under a tree in bloom pairs beautifully with this bottle.
This isn't your average red—it's a vibrant, low-intervention beauty that captures the essence of the season. Crafted from organic 100% Pinot Noir grapes in Oregon's Willamette Valley, it undergoes a semi-carbonic maceration and is aged on full lees, resulting in a wine that's assertive with textural creaminess, yet light, and bursting with energy. Expect flavors of black cherries, red raspberries, gray river stones, brambles, chalk, and a touch of salt and other silvery minerals, with a lively acidic and lingering finish. It's the kind of wine that makes us want to kick off our shoes, throw on a sundress, and sip under the sun.
This wine is a natural with grilled meats, roasted vegetables, or a hearty charcuterie board. Its bright acidity and mineral notes also make it a perfect match for spring salads or dishes featuring earthy mushrooms. Or, simply enjoy it on its own as you bask in the springtime glow.
